PDS00059 Rev. 05 12/18/09
Dimatix continues to build upon its long history of superb dot
placement accuracy, excellent channel-to-channel uniformity,
low cross talk, and high-frequency/high-productivity, drop-ondemand
printheads with the Q-Class product family. The
Sapphire QS-256/10 Printhead is one of the first
implementation of this family.
The Sapphire QS-256/10 Printhead features 256 independent
channels, arranged in a single row of nozzles at 100 dots-perinch
spacing. The printhead is designed to eject adjustable
10 to 30 picoliter drops in binary jetting mode or a 10-picoliter
fundamental drop in grayscale jetting mode. This is done at a
nominal 8-meters per second drop velocity when jetting fluids
in the 10 to 14 centipoise range.
Dimatix’s breakthrough VersaDrop™ jetting technology is
featured within the Sapphire QS-256/10 Printhead. It allows
unparalleled flexible modes of operation including adjustable
binary drop size and grayscale capability at unprecedented
throughput rates.
The material set selected for the Sapphire QS-256/10
Printhead was chosen for compatibility with a broad range of
ink chemistries, including UV-curable, and organic
solvent-based inks as well as associated maintenance fluids.
Precision registration points have been added to the outside
of the printhead, to provide absolute reference to the nozzles
to within a few microns. This makes it possible to nest printheads
together for the highest packing density in the industry.
A last chance filter is included within each channel of the
Sapphire QS-256/10 Printhead.
Dual inlet ports, with integral O-ring glands, and minimal
wetted surface area of the Sapphire QS-256/10 Printhead
facilitate effective maintenance flushing, quick color
changeovers and ink recirculation. A thermistor is included
within the printhead to maintain precise control of the ink
viscosity during jetting. Operational temperature can be up
to 90° C. The driver chip is double buffered to support the
Sapphire QS-256/10’s high-speed jetting capability.
